Minister of the Environment and Drainage, Dr. Denis Lowe. (FP)

The appointments of 113 workers at the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) have been approved.

These appointments were approved by Minister of the Environment and Drainage, Dr. Denis Lowe, who has overall responsibility for that agency, following recommendations made by the state entity.

Dr. Lowe told the Barbados Government Information Service that the number included all persons who served with the SSA for five years or more, and were in positions that were unencumbered by any other person who might be on any type of leave, such as vacation or study leave.

“I am extremely pleased this has been achieved. It was an ongoing process for the last three months. These are part of the valued workers who make up the family of the SSA and whose appointment, in some cases, was outstanding for a while,” the Environment Minister stated.
