Mr. President, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, I am honoured to address the 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly, as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados. The theme of this year’s Assembly, "The Role of the UN: Multilateralism and Global Governance", is one that is both timely and permits an examination of the complex issues facing the global community today.
Mr. Chairman, We reaffirm the significance attributed to each of the eight (8) Millennium Development Goals, and in this context to recognize the particular importance of Goal number 7- "Ensuring Environmental Sustainability".
