The public will get an opportunity next month to view a selection of objects acquired throughout the year by the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, when it hosts A Few of Our Favourite Things Exhibition.
Persons may view the exhibits, which will be on display in the Museum’s Members’ Lounge, at its Garrison, St. Michael location, on weekdays from Thursday, November 29, to Monday, December 31, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
There will be a number of items on display, including a public notice proclaiming the cessation of civil disobedience, dated July 29, 1937, which was issued as a result of the 1937 Labour Rebellion. Three undated watercolour sketches depicting different stances of a batsman, by artist Margaret Rodriguez; and "The Development of the Cricket Bat", a moulded plaque, which portrays the evolution of cricket bats from circa 1720 to circa 1939, will be exhibited.
In addition, a unique Atlantic Triton’s Trumpet Shell, which is featured in Greek and Roman mythology, will be on show, along with a Goliath Conch Shell; as well as a framed photograph of Lady Gilbert Carter, the first President of the Women’s Self Help, and a price list of items sold at the Women’s Self Help store.
