The National Housing Corporation will, on Saturday, July 24, launch one of its larger projects, The Villages at Coverley.??

The ceremony, which will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the expansive Christ Church site, will feature the handing over of 70 houses – 47 three bedrooms and 23 two bedrooms, by Minister of Housing and Lands, Michael Lashley.??

The project, which will eventually include 1026 homes, is divided into 17 villa neighbourhoods and includes a state-of-the-art wastewater reclamation facility.?? Once commissioned, it will treat up to 450,000 gallons of wastewater per day from the kitchens and bathrooms of the homes and commercial buildings in the development.

The Villages is being constructed utilising a modified zero lot line design concept and employing concrete slabs constructed in a factory and transported to the site for erection. The community will also include a town centre – Coverley Square, which will feature retail, recreational, medical and day care facilities. ??All services have been run underground with storm drainage in place.??

?????The private sector building partnership with Caribbean Homes, started in 2009 and the projection is that by December a minimum of 300 new Barbadians homeowners will take up residence at Coverley. The expected completion date for the entire project is 2012.??

Meanwhile, the developers have added an incentive, whereby one of the first 300 homeowners will have an opportunity to win a new car.??lbayley@barbados.gov.bb
