World Food Day will be observed and celebrated during the month of October, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Fisheries and Water Resource Management has planned a week of activities during the month.

On Saturday, October 10, the Ministry will stage a 5k walk from 6:00 a.m. The walk commences and ends at the Bay Street Esplanade. Persons are asked to bring a donation of non-perishable food items for the HIV Food Bank.

The following day, on Sunday, October 11, the Ministry will host a church service at the Rices Methodist Church, Rices, St. Philip, from 9:00 a.m.

??Then on Wednesday, October 14, members of the public are invited to visit the Ministry???s headquarters at Graeme Hall, Christ Church, for an open day, which runs from 10:30 am. to 3:30 p.m.

Persons will be treated to a plant clinic; tours of the library, green houses and fields; and fruit trees and agro-processed products will be on sale. There will also be fisheries and permaculture displays, a petting zoo, chef demonstrations, health checks and more.

On Friday, October 16, World Food Day, personnel from the Ministry will tour a number of agricultural stations, including the Greenland Livestock Research Station and the Spring Hall Land Lease Project.
