The linkages between agriculture and tourism sectors will be discussed when the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security hosts a National Agro-Tourism Policy Setting workshop.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 27, and Thursday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Courtyard by Marriot Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church.

It will feature presentations on several topics, including financing and technical assistance available for agro-tourism products; global and regional development trends; and the marketing and development of value-added, health and wellness and farm-based tourism products.

The objectives of the workshop are to promote linkages between the agriculture and tourism sectors to increase the sustainable sourcing of local fresh and processed agricultural and fisheries products; and increase understanding and awareness of the current deficiencies in the supply of food products along the value chain and to identify solutions.

It will also seek to design inter-sectoral and inclusive policies which promote public-private sector partnerships through the formulation of an effective national agro-tourism policy.
