Government’s Animal Control Centre has advised that all persons walking their dogs “must carry a plastic bag and a small scoop to remove all faeces”.

According to Animal Control Officer, Curtis Thompson, the Dog Licensing and Control Regulations state that “where a dog defecates on a beach or in a public place, the owner of that dog shall forthwith remove the faeces and dispose of it to the satisfaction of the Medical Officer of Health”.

He stated that “any person who contravenes or fails without reasonable excuse to comply with this section is guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine of $250.00 or to imprisonment for a term of three months or both”.
