Barbadians interested in attending a foreign university or pursuing studies via distance learning have been reminded to verify the accreditation or recognition status of the institution and /or programme of study before they apply.

This advice has come from the Information Officer at the Barbados Accreditation Council (BAC), Katrina Ifill, who warned that “persons need to ensure that the qualifications they receive are legitimate.

“The BAC offers two services which allow interested persons to check whether the institution or programme of study they are interested in is accredited. The Council also offers a recognition of qualification service aimed at ensuring that the qualifications received from various institutions are legitimate,” she outlined.

Further information on the services offered by the BAC, may be obtained by contacting Ms. Katrina Ifill at the Council’s headquarters, Weymouth Corporate Centre, Roebuck Street, St. Michael at 436-7636 or via email at km-ifill@bac.gov.bb or www.bac.gov.bb.
