Barbados’ Progress Since Independence Lauded

Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, has lauded Barbados???s ???outstanding progress??? since independence.

In a congratulatory message to Barbados’ Prime Minister Freundel Stuart on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of independence of Barbados, Ambassador LaRocque pointed to that country???s political maturity and stability as a beacon in the region.

He added that CARICOM continued to benefit from Barbados??? ???strong commitment??? and leadership role in integration.

???The Community continues to benefit from the strong commitment of Barbados to regional integration. The country has willingly accepted and carried out its leadership role in integration and the Community looks forward to the continued vibrant involvement of Barbados in the consolidation and advancement of the process, as we seek to ensure a safe, secure and sustainable environment for the growth and well-being of our Community,??? the Secretary-General, said.

The full message reads:?????The Caribbean Community extends hearty congratulations to the Government and People of Barbados on the occasion of the 49th Anniversary of the country???s Independence.

The national motto of Pride and Industry is a true reflection of the approach that has driven the outstanding progress of Barbados since the attainment of Independence. The political maturity and stability of Barbados has been a beacon in the Region and is a critical factor in boosting the nation???s economic and social development.

The Community continues to benefit from the strong commitment of Barbados to regional integration. The country has willingly accepted and carried out its leadership role in integration and the Community looks forward to the continued vibrant involvement of Barbados in the consolidation and advancement of the process, as we seek to ensure a safe, secure and sustainable environment for the growth and wellbeing of our Community.
