For the first time since their establishment, the Biodiversity Conservation and Management Unit (BCMU), and the Ministry of the Environment and Drainage, will have a website to capture their work and activities.

The website will be officially launched on Friday, August 12, in the Ministry’s Warrens Tower II, Warrens, St. Michael conference room, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Minister of the Environment and Drainage, Dr. Denis Lowe, is expected to deliver the opening remarks during this launch.

According to officials at the Ministry, the new website will feature the current and upcoming activities of the Ministry, along with information relevant to the Biodiversity-related Multilateral Environmental Agreements.

They explained that it represented the work of the BCMU from 2012 when the United Nations Development Programme’s Sustainable Land Management Programme was successfully completed.

That project had three main outputs – the Institutional Review of the Soil Conservation Unit; the Geographical Information Systems for Land Management; and a Communications component.
