The draft final report ??for the Barbados National Standards Institution’s (BNSI) National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) model will be presented next??Tuesday, September 15.

Consultant, Hermon Edmonson, will outline the development of a suitable NQI model for the Caribbean, during a workshop at the Savannah Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church, starting at 9:00 a.m.

The objective of the project is: to harmonise Barbados’ national standards system to improve competitiveness, consumer protection, trade facilitation and market access by enhancing the performance of the BNSI.

The development of a NQI would also allow the BNSI to carry out regulatory, metrology, standards, testing, quality assurance and oversight functions.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Empowerment, Trade, Industry and Commerce, is implementing a Modernisation of the Barbados National Standards System, in consultation with the Inter-American Development Bank.
