admin Ministry News

As part of its preparations for the 2010 Population and Housing Census, the Barbados Statistical Service (BSS) will be hosting a ten-day Training of Trainers workshop.

The sessions will be held from Monday, January 18, in the L.V. Harcourt Lewis Training Room of the Barbados Public Workers Cooperative Credit Union Limited, Belmont Road, St. Michael, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day.

Senior BSS staffers will discuss a number of modules, including: Field Operations; Understanding the Census Map and How to Use It to Canvass the Enumeration District and Recording the Census Information.

The survey will be conducted by enumerators from the department for approximately six weeks in May. It is designed to assess the changes to the Barbadian population and housing landscape since 2000, when the last Census was carried out by the BSS.??

At the end of the exercise, the data collected will determine the implementation and evaluation of its social and economic programmes.
