The Barbados Defence Force in collaboration with the United States Southern Command will jointly host this year’s Caribbean Nations Security Conference (CANSEC 22).

The conference, under the theme: Multinational Cooperation in a Changing Operational Environment, will be held from April 5 -7 at the Hilton Barbados Resort, Needham’s Point, St. Michael.

The aim of CANSEC is to promote regional and hemispheric security cooperation through expanding networks and to build enduring partnerships among military, industry and government officials.

Emphasis will also be placed on counter terrorism initiatives, counter illicit flows operations, coordination for humanitarian assistance/disaster relief and protecting the Blue Economy with a view to countering transnational threats and enhancing regional security.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is expected to deliver the feature address during the opening session on Wednesday, April 6, starting at 8:00 a.m.
