Daryll Jordan Secondary School will this week launch its Schools’ Positive Behaviour Management Programme (SPBMP).

The ceremony takes place on Wednesday, November 9, in the Ifill and Phillips Auditorium at the school in Trents, St. Lucy, from 9:00 a.m. It will be held under the theme Education 50 years and Beyond: Raising Expectations through SPBMP.

During the ceremony, there will be a display of the accomplishments of the school, and presentations in song, and music by students.

The highlight, however, will be the presentation of an award to old scholar David ‘Ziggy’ Walcott for his achievement in the area of steel pan music – a testament to our motto: “Every Talent to Greatest Use”.

Teacher and SPBMP Coordinator, Michael Toppin, said the launch represents the commitment of the school to the SPBMP initiative.

He said: “The school and its partners are focused on building an effective school framework, in order to further accomplish our vision: To be the beacon for quality, innovative education with curricula responsive to global needs.

“Additionally, we are fulfilling our mission to empower socially responsible citizens. This event also forms part of the school’s 45thanniversary celebrations and our nation’s 50th anniversary celebrations.”

Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Senator Harry Husbands, will address the start of the event, which will also be attended by representatives from UNICEF, the Ministry and other school partners.
