The deadline for nominations for the International TVET Youth Forum has been extended until tomorrow, Friday, March 24.

The two-day forum will take place on October 14 and 15 in the United Arab Emirates, during WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017. Expenses will be covered for the successful participant to attend the event.

Young persons between the ages of 18 and 24, who are interested in representing Barbados at the forum, can continue to submit their applications via the World Skills Barbados website at www.worldskillsbarbados.org.bb.

Nominees must be enrolled in, or have graduated from, a local public or private TVET institution, such as the Barbados Community College, the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic, the Barbados Vocational Training Board or the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity. As such, nominations can be made by individual applicants or these institutions.

Nominees are reminded that their applications should be submitted in the form of a cover letter, which must briefly explain their perspective on one of the proposed topics, along with their curricula vitae.

The topics in focus are: Skills Development; Education and Training; Employment; Innovation; Industry 4.0; Entrepreneurship; Green Economy; Global Citizenship; and Happiness and Tolerance.

The conference will provide youth from across the globe with an opportunity to discuss and share their experiences on technical and vocational training and education.
