In an effort to raise awareness about mental health issues affecting the youth, the Psychiatric Hospital will host a panel discussion at the National Union of Public Workers’ Auditorium, Dalkeith, St. Michael, on Wednesday, October 24.

The discussion, which has as its theme Young People and Mental Health in a Changing World, begins at 6:00 p.m.  Issues to be examined include sexuality, online dating, cybersex, drugs, online games, bullying, youth civic engagement, volunteerism and positive youth development.

Panellists will be consultant psychiatrist at the Psychiatric Hospital, Dr. Joy Sue; founder and director of Nature Fun Ranch, Corey Lane; Constable Sadiq Hill of the Community Policing Section of the Royal Barbados Police Force; former teacher and social worker, Rev. Dr. Sonia Hinds, and Community Programme Officer with the National Council on Substance Abuse, Makeada Bourne.

The moderator will be lecturer at the Barbados Community College, Renwick Gaskin. All interested persons are invited to attend.
