Gynaecological concerns will be discussed when the Edgar Cochrane Polyclinic’s Women’s Health Meeting, is held next Thursday, November 25.

The session will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be led by certified physician in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr. Tracey Archer.

According to the coordinator of the programme, Nurse Martia King, despite the view that women often sought medical advice more readily than their male counterparts, there was still a need to educate females about specific health issues.

"In the coming weeks, and going into the new year, we also hope to focus on cancer of the cervix, breast examinations, sexually transmitted infections and the management of diabetes, hypertension and other chronic diseases.?? The objective of the women’s health programme is to share essential information, dispel myths, and allow busy women to come and ask questions about topics of interest to them," she said.??

Ms. King pointed out that nurses from the polyclinic would also be conducting community outreach programmes and suggestion boxes would soon be installed to encourage feedback.??

Women in the Wildey, St. Michael and surrounding areas are invited to come and learn more about this important area and bring a friend.???? The Women’s Health Meetings will be held at the polyclinic every last Thursday of the month.????lbayley@barbados.gov.bb
