Staff of the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training were pampered and treated to free health checks during a health fair held at the Ministry’s Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael, on Thursday.

The fair was part of Education Month activities, and the Ministry staff, who are tasked with the responsibility of managing the island’s educational system, got a rare opportunity to ‘kick back and relax’.

Apart from the usual blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol checks, they were treated to massages by professional masseuses from Hands On by Dawn; manicures and pedicures by students from Springer Memorial and Princess Margaret Secondary Schools; eyelash and eyebrow priming and waxing; ozone therapy by Naniki’s Ozone Therapy and healthy food options and products.

With October being also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the ladies were given free breast screenings by personnel from the Barbados Cancer Society on their Breast Screening Bus. Staff also attended lectures by professionals on dental and cervical health, as well as mental wellness.
