Education Month 2015 is into its last lap.

A packed calendar for next week ??? October 25 to 31 ??? will see staff of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, their friends and family engaging in several activities.

These include a heritage bus ride on Sunday, October 25, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. that will take them to the Historic Garrison (The National Armoury, George Washington House and St. Ann???s Fort), Newton Burial Ground, St. Nicholas Abbey, St. John???s Church, Morgan Lewis Mill and Rock Hall Freedom Village.

On Monday, October 26, the Ministry will be presented with over 250 books entitled: Heritage Barbados, produced by Rasheed Boodhoo in collaboration with Marcus Communications.

These will be presented to the Education Ministry for onward distribution to all primary and secondary, both private and public, via the Media Resource Department (MRD). The presentation takes place at the MRD, Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael, at 10:00 a.m.

Tuesday, October 27, is Teachers??? Appreciation Day, and students across primary and secondary schools are expected to show much warmth and gratitude towards their teachers, principals and other staff members.

The penultimate in the series of mall concerts will come off at Sheraton Mall on Wednesday, October 28, at 12:30 p.m. Later that evening, at Almond Bay, Christ Church, the John Cumberbatch Memorial Lecture will be held on the theme: Building the Capacity of Unions Through Partnership, Innovation, Networking and Education, at 7:00.

Prose and Poetry at the Ministry???s Amphitheatre will continue the next day, Thursday, October 29, from 11:30 a.m. On Friday, October 30, there will be a 20/20 cricket match at the 3Ws Oval University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus from 6:00. It will pit the Ministry???s staff against a combined team from tertiary institutions.

Later in the evening at 7:00, the Barbados Union of Teachers will host its President???s Reception at its union headquarters on Merry Hill, Welches, St. Michael.

On Saturday, October 31, the highlight of Education Month – EduMarket and Q in the Community ??? will he held. It is expected to draw a large crowd at the old Bartel Sports Complex, Howell???s Cross Road, St. Michael, when it begins at 11:00 a.m.??Members of the public are invited to participate in the events.
