As Barbados continues preparations for the Global Forum Phase 2 peer review, the Ministry of International Business and International Transport, will host an Exchange of Information training seminar from Wednesday, November 21 to Friday, November 23, at Hilton Barbados, Needhams Point, St. Michael.

Minister of International Business and International Transport, George Hutson, will deliver the feature address during the opening of the seminar on Wednesday, November 21 at 9:00 a.m.

The seminar, which is being held under the theme: Effective Processes of Peer Reviews, is designed to provide participants with tools to "get up to speed" quickly with best practices in exchange of information and to be ready for the Global Forum Phase 2 peer review process.

A presentation on how to get prepared for the review process will also be on the agenda during the two-day seminar which is being conducted by the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes.

The seminar will also focus on the implementation of an effective exchange of information in practice; how the competent authority can efficiently handle and answer incoming requests; how auditors can use exchange of information agreements to make requests; and outline the administrative and institutional needs for the process.

Targeted at those involved in the exchange of information for tax purposes and in the preparation of the Phase 2 review, the seminar is divided into 16 sessions and consists of a number of presentations, open discussions and case studies.

The Phase 2 Peer Review is scheduled for the first quarter of 2013.
