Football Assistance Could Be Coming For The Caribbean

Barbados and other Caribbean countries could soon receive technical assistance from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

UEFA President, Michel Platini, met on Monday at Government Headquarters with Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, Minister of Sports, Stephen Lashley and other officials.

And, he said after discussions with various officials in the region, he would meet with several of his committees to look at what support could be given.?????Football is growing and very popular around the world ??? and we have to help the youth of this country in the development of football,??? Mr. Platini stated.

Mr. Stuart expressed his pleasure at meeting Mr. Platini, given his history in the world of football. He also thanked him in advance for any possible assistance which UEFA could render to Barbados, saying that football had been on the rise in recent years and even though the fruit of the Barbados Football Association???s labour had been evident, more could be done for the sport.

Mr. Platini is a former French football player and manager, who has been UEFA President since 2007. Regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, he won the Ballon d’Or three times – in 1983, 1984 and 1985. In 2004, he was named by Pel?? as one of the 125 Greatest Living Footballers.
