From Monday, October 31, to Friday, November 4, four local companies will be heading to Cuba to exhibit their products at the annual Havana International Fair (FIHAV).

Sponsored by the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC), the five-day trade fair is expected to attract companies from across the globe which produce a range of products and services.

Participants will aim mainly to establish commercial contacts, exchange experiences and get up-to-date on new technological developments.

Chairman of the BIDC, Benson Straker, will head Barbados’ delegation, while Business Development Officer, Coral Taylor, and Graphic Assistant, Paul Massiah, will accompany the four companies: WIBISCO, Roberts Manufacturing Co. Ltd., Good Times Snacks and TORQUE-EPCM, an engineering and technology consultancy.

The companies participating in FIHAV 2016 were also part of the political/commercial mission which visited Cuba in May, led by Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, Donville Inniss.

During the trade fair, companies will capitalise on the opportunity to reignite contacts made during the previous mission, as well as strengthen their position in the Cuban market.

FIHAV is housed on more than 20,000 m2 of exhibition area, and it is anticipated that around 4,500 exhibitors from over 60 countries will attend. This year, the trade fair is expected to attract over 150,000 visitors.
