FTC Essay Competition Addresses Consumer Protection

What is Consumer Protection and How Does It Affect Me, As a Young Consumer? This is the theme entrants will be addressing in the Fair Trading Commission’s (FTC) Essay Competition 2012.

As part of the FTC’s educational programme, the endeavour aims to increase awareness about consumer rights and responsibilities among the youth. The competition is open to children ages 13 to 15.

Essays must be between 1,000 and 1,200 words and may be hand or type written.?? All submissions must be original, and only one essay per participant is allowed and should be accompanied by a cover page, which lists the student’s name, age and school.??

Prizes to be won include an Apple iPad, a Samsung Tablet and a cash prize of $500 to the school of the first prize winner.

All entries must be submitted to the FTC, Good Hope, Green Hill, St. Michael, by 4:00 p.m., Friday, December 7. Information on consumer matters, as well as a copy of the rules and guidelines, may be obtained by contacting the Commission at 424-0260 or by visiting http://www.ftc.gov.bb/.
