New Zealand Scholarships Now Available

Barbadians interested in studying in New Zealand may now apply for scholarships under the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan.??

The scholarships are mainly for studies leading to a Doctoral or Master???s degree and will be tenable from the February 2015 academic year.

Eligible applicants must be residing in their home country and be in the private or public sector or the community sector workforce.??

Candidates are required to secure admission to their preferred New Zealand education institution in advance of scholarship application. Evidence of admission must be attached to the application form.

The scholarship will provide an allowance which will be given for books, research, the thesis, medical and travel costs, and tuition fees. There will also be a monthly stipend and an establishment allowance. It will also cover airfare at the commencement and completion of the programme, reimbursement of awardees??? visa cost.

Candidates must hold a first degree with Upper Second Class Honours (or above); or a Second Class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification, which would normally be a Master???s degree. He/she should also be applying to commence a new qualification and not be seeking funding for one already commenced at the PhD or Master???s level and must be available to commence academic studies at the start of the New Zealand academic year in February 2015.

Two completed applications forms should be submitted to: The Tertiary Section, Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation no later than June 6, 2014.
