Primary Schools Quiz Finals December 9

Six primary schools from St. John, St. Philip and St. George are through to the finals of the annual primary schools??? quiz competition on vector control hosted by the Environmental Health Department at the St. Philip Polyclinic.

The finalists in the competition are St. Lukes/Brighton Primary, Ellerton Primary, St. Margaret???s Primary, Hilda Skeene Primary, St. John???s Primary, and Reynold Weekes Primary.

They face off on Tuesday, December 9 at the Princess Margaret Secondary School, Six Roads, St. Philip at 10 a.m.

The children, drawn from Class 3 at their respective primary schools, will be vying for a variety of prizes donated by sponsors from the business community.

Display On Gender Based Violence On Friday

As part of its efforts to advocate for the elimination of violence against women, the Bureau of Gender Affairs, in collaboration with the Business and Professional Women???s Club, will mount a display later this week.

The event, which is one of the activities to mark the 16 days of activism against gender violence, will be held this Friday, December 5, in the St. Philip Conference Room, Ground Floor, Baobab Tower, Warrens, St. Michael, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Included in the display will be photographs, literature and t-shirts, which were designed as part of the Bureau???s clothesline project. Two victims of domestic abuse will also be on hand to speak about their experiences at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

All members of the public are invited to attend and to wear purple in support of the cause. There will be a number of giveaways.
