International Transport Division Now Online

Barbadians can now get pertinent information on maritime transport, travel services and regulations for setting up travel agencies at the click of a mouse.

Persons may log on to the website www.internationaltransport.gov.bb to access information on the Ministry and the Civil Aviation Department, maritime careers and services, including the processing and issue of travel licenses; issuing boat drivers??? licenses; and the development of shipping and aviation legislation.

There is also a Maritime Transport section in which information on the International Ships Registry, maritime security, Certificates of Competency and the regulation of maritime activities in Barbados can be accessed.

Members of the public may also peruse the Travel Services Act Cap 373A, the Shipping Act Cap 296 and the Shipping Corporation Act Cap 296B.

Tour Guide Train-The-Trainer Workshop

The Ministry of Tourism and International Transport will host a train-the-trainer workshop to equip prospective guides in conducting tours of Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison.

The workshops will commence on Monday, June 9, (Whit Monday) and conclude on Friday, June 20, at the Island Inn Hotel, Aquatic Gap, St. Michael. Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy, will deliver the opening remarks at 9:00 a.m.

The purpose of the workshop is to develop a cadre of trainers who would conduct tour guide training sessions specific to the delivery of authentic tours of the island???s UNESCO World Heritage Property.
