The Barbados Community College (BCC) is offering a number of programmes and courses for the academic year 2014 ??? 2015.

Interested applicants have the option of undertaking studies for an Associate Degree programme in Agriculture, Finance & Investment, Architectural Studies, Sport Management or an Associate Degree in Majors.

The BCC is also offering one-year certificate courses in Nursing Assistant and Pre-Health Studies. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 28, and the application forms may be collected from The Office of Student Affairs at the BCC between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. or they may be downloaded at ww.bcc.edu.bb.

Prospective students are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of $60. Open Campus Lecture On Women In The Board Room

Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of the Nation Publishing Company Limited, Vivian-Anne Gittens will deliver the next lunchtime lecture of the Open Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) at the Grand Salle, Central Bank of Barbados on Wednesday, March 26.

She will speak on the topic: Corporate Equality: Women in the Boardroom.??The lecture, which runs from noon until 1:15 p.m., is a collaborative effort between the UWI Open Campus and the Central Bank of Barbados. Members of the public are invited to attend.

Metrology Focus of BNSI Workshop

Metrology, the science of measurement, will be up for discussion when the Barbados National Standards Institution (BNSI) hosts a four-day workshop entitled: NMI ??? Metrology User Relations. It will be held at the Savannah Beach Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church, from Tuesday, March 18, until Friday, March 21.

Among the topics to be reviewed will be the importance of metrology to Barbados; the development and implementation of demand-oriented services; metrology best practices developed within the areas of regulators; secondary labs and education in the Inter-American Metrology System Community.

The main objectives of the workshop are: to present and evaluate the development of country projects; exchange experiences on how to strengthen the relationship with National Metrology Institute???s users and stakeholders and evaluate the ???NMI ??? Metrology User Relations project.

Reminder For Public Tsunami Lunchtime Seminar On Tuesday

A lunchtime seminar on Earthquakes and Tsunamis in Barbados will be held on Tuesday, March 18, at the Grand Salle, Central Bank of Barbados, Church Village, St. Michael, beginning at noon.

That lecture will be delivered by Director of the Seismic Research Centre, Dr. Joan Latchman, as part of the activities to mark Coastal Hazard Awareness month which is being celebrated under the theme: Tsunami Smart Barbados.

The event is being hosted by the Technical Standing Committee on Coastal Hazards, and all are invited.
