Community Plan For St. David???s To Six Roads To Be Discussed

Residents, operators of businesses, landowners and other interested persons in the districts stretching from St. David???s, Christ Church to Six Roads, St. Philip will soon get an opportunity to express their views and make suggestions on the future development of that area.

A community meeting will be held on Monday, March 31, at the St. Patrick???s Church Hall, Christ Church, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The discussion will be hosted by Ecoisle Consulting Inc. and Open Plan, the consultants appointed by The Town and Country Development Planning Office to develop the Community Plan for St. David???s to Six Roads.

The districts within the area of the Plan include Bannatyne, Bentley Tenantry, Yorkshire, Coverley, South Ridge, Lower Greys, Lead Vale, Hannays Tenantry, Kent, Ridge, Woodbourne, Four Roads, Foursquare Valley and Rock Hall.

Government recently commissioned the comprehensive land use Community Plan for the area, stretching from St. David???s to Six Roads, to guide development there over a five-year period.

This has become necessary because the Town and Country Development Planning Office has received several applications to subdivide or change the use of agricultural land there for residential and commercial purposes.

Teenagers, Sex and STDs On Alexandra PTA???S Agenda

Parents and guardians of students of the Alexandra School are invited to a special Parent Teachers Association (PTA) meeting at the school on Wednesday, March 26, from 5:30 p.m.

The monthly meeting, which takes place in the school hall, will hear from Executive Director of the Barbados Family Planning Association, George Griffith on a range of issues pertaining to teenagers.

Among the topics to be discussed are: Talking To Our Preteens and Teens About Sex; How We As Parents Can Put Them On The Right Path; What is the Downside of Having Sex Too Early; Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and Teenage Pregnancy.
