Electoral Department To Relocate

The Electoral and Boundaries Commission will be relocating to Warrens Tower II, Warrens, St. Michael from December 9 to December 13.

Consequently, the final day of business at its old location will be on Friday, December 6.

The office will re-open to the public, on the ground floor at the Warren Tower II on Thursday, December 12, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

The new telephone number will be 622-1622.

Commonwealth Exercise Book Scheme To Be Launched

The Barbados Branch of the Royal Commonwealth Society will be launching the Commonwealth Exercise Book Scheme this Friday, November 29. It will take place at the Christ Church Foundation School, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and Chief Justice, Sir Marston Gibson, will be in attendance.

The scheme is designed to provide each child attending a public or private, primary or secondary school in Barbados with a free copy of an exercise book.

The 44-page book features flags of the Commonwealth on the cover, a centerfold map of the world locating the countries of the Commonwealth, excerpts from the Commonwealth Charter, the words to the Barbados National Pledge and the National Anthem, as well as mathematical tables.

Post Office Notices

Members of the public are advised that P.O. Boxes are now available for rental at various post offices across the island.

This personalised mail delivery service allows customers to have 24-hour access to their mail on any day of the week.

Persons interested in learning more about this service should contact Customer Services at telephone number 426-1801.

Meanwhile, members of the public are reminded that they must have their identification cards in good condition when doing business at post offices.

Book Launch on Society Primary School

The story of Society Primary School will be told from tomorrow and onwards.

A book entitled: The Story of Society Primary School will be launched at the St. John school, tomorrow, Thursday, November 28.

It takes place at 10:00 a.m. in the school hall and will be addressed by Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology & Innovation, Senator Harcourt Husbands.

Principal of Society Primary, Shirley Thomas, will give welcome remarks, while other remarks will come from Author, Dr. Dan C. Carter and Parliamentary Representative for the Constituency of St. John, Mara Thompson.

Special Schools To Celebrate With Carolling

Students and staff of the island???s public and private special schools, units and programmes will host their Annual Carol Service on Friday, December 6, at the River Road New Testament Church of God, St. Michael.

It starts at 9:30 a.m. and will bring together all students with special educational needs in an uplifting atmosphere, while celebrating the Christmas season.

The event will be held under the theme: He Came to Save Us – A Bajan Christmas. It will also comprise an annual awards section, where persons who have made significant contributions to special education will be honoured.

Noting that there is always a ???family atmosphere when public and private schools come together???, Coordinator of the event and Principal of The Ann Hill School, Emelda Bell, said: ???The children really put their hearts and souls into the selections every year. We can come away with warm hearts because they have really out done themselves and gone beyond our expectations.???

Parents are especially invited to attend.
