This nation, as a destination for health and wellness tourism, will come under the microscope next week, when the Ministries of Tourism and Health, in collaboration with the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries Inc. (BCSI) and Invest Barbados, host a stakeholders’ conference on Wednesday, March 17 and Thursday, March 18.

Under the theme, Barbados, An International Health and Wellness Destination: Educated, Sophisticated, Regulated, the conference will be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, from 9:00 a.m.

A key goal of the symposium is to develop a strategic plan for health and wellness tourism on the island. Its objectives include assessing the level of performance of the sector; and examining the level of assistance needed from Government and businesses in order to fully develop this area.

It will also aim to create awareness of the diversity and quality of the health and wellness product in the island, while promoting the Barbados brand.

The conference targets government agencies, enterprises, professionals in the industry, potential investors, owners of private facilities and spas, as well as financial institutions.

International expert in health and wellness and Senior Associate with the Trade Facilitation Office of Canada, Diane Gerard, will be the lead facilitator for the stakeholders’ meeting.

Minister of Health, Donville Inniss, and Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy, are expected to deliver remarks at the opening of the symposium on Wednesday, March 17, at 9:00 a.m.
