In an effort to address the health concerns of staff within the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, the Internal HIV Committee will host a health expo, next Friday, April 8.

Dubbed Your Health and You, the event will take place in the car park of the Administration Block, Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

A key aim of the Expo is to bring together staff of the Ministry and its external agencies to learn about health, particularly sexual health and how it affects them. It is expected that persons would be more informed and take the necessary steps towards changing behaviours.

Along with the regular cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure testing, there will be voluntary counselling and testing for HIV; a demonstration on the use of alternative medicine; as well as exercises, including the ???Kettle Bell’, a new fitness technique.

A number of stakeholders have also been invited including the National HIV/AIDS Commission, the School Meals Department, Erdiston Teachers’ Training College, Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic and the Barbados Community College.??
