Students from Wesley Hall Juniors, Bay Primary and Combermere will learn more about kite-flying and safety, when the Barbados Light & Power Company (BL&P), and the Media Resource Department (MRD) visit their institutions.

Aimed at delivering safety tips to students on the approach of this year’s kite flying season, the campaign will launch on Friday, March 17.

The team from BL&P will first visit Wesley Hall Juniors and give safety talks on kite flying and a demonstration on electricity and its interaction with the community.

At 10:30 a.m., a move to Bay Primary School will see pupils treated to various giveaways and short talks. The campaign ends at Combermere, where talks on kite flying/safety begin at 1:30 p.m.

Throughout the week, the MRD, an arm of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, will assist in the distribution of the kite flying/safety posters to these three schools and others across the island.

MRD’s facilitation of this aspect is in keeping with its May 2015 commitment to partner with the BL&P, in its outreach efforts to schools.
