The Sexual Harassment Act, the Holidays with Pay Act, The Shops Act and The Employment Rights Act will take centre stage next week, when the Labour Department presents the first in a series of seminars.

The Department, which is hosting two one-day seminars on Thursday, September 20, and Friday, September 21, has invited members of the public to attend either one of the free seminars to have their queries answered on the several Acts, and other labour matters.

Entitled Labour Legislation and Industrial Relations Best Practices, the seminars represent part of the Department’s efforts at disseminating information on the labour laws, promoting an awareness that the Department is at the vanguard of promoting social and economic justice for all in the workplace, and fostering a greater degree of labour-management cooperation.

They will be conducted at the Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, from 9.00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day. Deputy Chief Labour Officer, Claudette Hope-Greenidge, will address the opening of the seminars on Thursday, from 9.00 a.m. The seminars are expected to continue in November and go into the new year.

For further information, persons may contact Donna Best-Frederick at 535-1508, or dfrederick@labour.gov.bb.  They may also contact Pauline Farnum at 535-1507, or pfarnum@labour.gov.bb.
