Issues relating to housing and lands will be the main items to be debated when the House of Assembly meets tomorrow, August 17.

Three Resolutions stand in the name of Minister of Housing and Lands, Michael Lashley. He will seek to have Parliament approve the compulsory acquisition by the Crown of land and buildings at Sam Lord’s Castle, in Long Bay, St. Philip. The land is earmarked for housing, tourism development and access to the beach. The measure is in accordance with Section Five of the Land Acquisition Act. Cap. 228.

Mr. Lashley is also expected to move the vesting in the National Housing Corporation Crown land at Parish Land, St. Philip and Constant, St. George, for housing development.

Both measures are in accordance with Section Five of the Crown Lands (Vesting and Disposal) Act.?? Cap. 225.

In addition, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Freundel Stuart, will pilot the First Reading of the Customs (Amendment) Bill, 2010.
