"Hurry and purchase your tickets for the Barbados Tourism Awards 2009."

This is the message from Chairperson of the Main Committee and Chief Tourism Development Officer (Ag), Nicole Alleyne, to anyone planning to attend the prestigious Barbados Tourism Awards 2009, this Saturday, June 6 at Ilaro Court. ??It will get under way at 5.30 p.m.??

"Sales are going well but we do have some tickets remaining which we are asking persons to hurry and buy to make sure that they are part of what is expected to be an evening of excellence and elegance," she said.

Tickets for the awards are available from the Ministry of Tourism and on line at http://www.barbadostourismawards.com/.

Mrs. Alleyne also noted that "rehearsals were ongoing and everything seemed to be going well. "The final or grand rehearsal will take place tomorrow at Ilaro Court at 5:00 p.m. to ensure that the event is successfully executed," she explained.

The Barbados Tourism Awards is designed to reward outstanding individuals and will see some 31 prizes given to persons and businesses that have demonstrated excellence in the delivery of their service and/or product as well as made significant contributions towards maintaining Barbados’ brand as a premier tourism destination.

Billed as a type of "Oscar" ceremony, the Barbados Tourism Awards 2009 will see patrons taking a walk down the red carpet to the elegant theatre-style seating at Ilaro Court.??Guests will be entertained by several local acts, while awaiting the award presentation, which will be followed by a sumptuous menu.

To ensure the smooth flow of traffic for patrons attending the event, the Ministry of Tourism has assigned parking at five sites. These are: the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre Annex; Leacock’s Car Park, at the site of the former Barbados Hardware at Haggatt Hall; the Barbados Community College (BCC) Main Campus; the BCC Morningside area (reserved for service providers’, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, NULL, NULL, 0); and the BCC Annex, at the site of the former Bartel Sports Club.
