Twenty-one mid-level and or senior non-commissioned officers operating in maritime law enforcement agencies in the region will soon undergo three weeks of residential training in Barbados.

The Maritime Operations and Planning course, to be held at the Barbados Coast Guard Base HMBS Pelican, at Spring Garden, St. Michael, will begin Monday, July 3.

The aim of the course is to train a cadre of middle management/command level officers in the principles of Maritime Operations and Planning, in an effort to equip them with the relevant tools to plan and execute operations as required.

This course is part of the capacity building project: Strengthening Law Enforcement and Border Security in the Regional Security System Member States.

Funded by the European Union and the Regional Security System, the project is valued at €1.5 million and involves the delivery of several specialised training courses and equipment over the next three years.
