World Maritime Day will be celebrated this year on Thursday, September 29 and government’s International Transport Division will be hosting a week of activities from September 25 to October 1 to coincide with the celebrations.

The week begins on Sunday, September 25, with a church service at the Holetown Methodist Church. ??It commences at 9:00 am.

Professor Henry Fraser will deliver a lecture entitled "Piracy and the Caribbean" on Tuesday, September 27. ??It will be held at the Sir Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Conference Centre, and is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm.

On Wednesday, September 28, there will be an Interactive Educational Discussion for secondary school children at the Steel Shed, Queens Park, which will begin at 9:30 am.

In addition to these events, the International Transport Division is hosting a seafarers’ reunion to commemorate World Maritime Day. All interested seafarers, both past and present, are asked to contact Mrs. Jessica Taylor at the Ministry of International Transport at 310-3326.
