Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, Stephen Lashley, has lauded Barbados??? athletes for their performance at the just-concluded Los Angeles Special Olympics World Games.
The team returned to Barbados on Tuesday evening with a total of 17 medals: eight gold, five silver and four bronze. ???This particular performance is certainly deserving of praise and acclamation. They have done, not only themselves, but Barbados proud, with this achievement,??? Mr. Lashley stated, noting that the gold-winning feats were achieved in the disciplines of track, golf and bocce.
The Sports Minister also congratulated the athletes??? coaches and trainers, as well as their parents and guardians who journeyed to Los Angeles to offer support.??A welcome reception will be held for the team on Friday, August 7, at Bagatelle Great House, St. Thomas.
