Local author, Glyne Murray, has been commended for educating Barbadians about their rich heritage, in his newly-released book Barbados Customs to Treasure – Early Gems of Bajan Creativity.

Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development, Steven Blackett, while speaking at the launch last Saturday at Cave Shepherd, noted that the book represented ???a stellar contribution to Barbadian literature???.

He highlighted its depiction of the cultural landscape of Barbados, including the rum shop and village life, as well as its tribute to cultural treasures such as calypsonian ???Sir Don???, and literary icon Frank Collymore.

He told the audience: ???Reading this book should further enlighten, encourage and provide the impetus that is required for this country???s continued cultural growth and the achievement of even greater accomplishments.???
