The Ministry of Agriculture’s Entomology Section is making an appeal to members of the public and businesses to join in the fight against the Giant African Snail.

They can do so by donating old or unwanted wooden pallets to the section. The pallets are used to burn the collected snails on a daily basis.

Between the start of the Ministry’s Giant African Snail Bounty Programme in March 2009 and the end of September 2011, some 310 tonnes of snails were received and burnt.

To donate the pallets or for further information, persons may contact the Entomology Section at 434-5103 or 310-2821 or the Ministry of Agriculture at 434-5000.
