The Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management will hold a Field Day targeting farmers on Tuesday April 10, at the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI), located on its compound at Graeme Hall, Christ Church.

The event, scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., will focus on the cultivation of Romaine lettuce. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the varieties of that type of lettuce and participate in field tours, among other activities.

It is one of a series of planned Field Days during which the Ministry will be encouraging people to grow more food. The objectives of next Tuesday’s activities are to expose farmers to the various types of Romaine lettuce; to significantly reduce the import of this commodity; and to establish improved production systems which will result in a more viable and efficient cost of production.
