Barbados is taking steps towards the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with India.

This disclosure came from Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Stephen Lashley, after a courtesy call with High Commissioner to India, Murugesan Subashini.

Mr. Lashley, who met with the High Commissioner at his Ministry???s Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall office, outlined the preparation involved in the drafting and signing of the MOU.

???One of the things that we are going to do is get specific proposals from the relevant ministries and submit a comprehensive set of proposals to our Ministry of Foreign Affairs,??? he explained.

The Acting Minister said that the proposals would then be submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in India. ???Once that is done, that will trigger the discussions on how we can start looking at those areas of collaboration,??? he added.

Mr. Lashley commended Mrs. Subashini on her diligence in strengthening and ensuring vibrant relations between Barbados and India. As part of efforts to further develop relations between the two countries Barbados and India signed an Air Services Agreement earlier this month.
