The Barbados Museum and Historical Society (BMHS), in partnership with Scotiabank, is inviting young persons to participate in its upcoming 50th Anniversary of Independence Schools’ Art Competition.

Themed: What Independence Means to Me, the competition seeks to raise awareness of the meaning of Independence; to highlight aspects of Barbadian symbols, places and heritage; and to depict significant aspects of Independence, from 1966 to present day.

It is open to students between the ages of five and 13, who may register either as a group or as individuals. They may submit a maximum of three entries, and a completed registration form is required for each entry. Registration forms can be downloaded from the BMHS’ website or collected from its headquarters at The Garrison, St. Michael.

All work should be submitted to the BMHS, along with completed registration forms, by Thursday, September 29. Participants may call Allison Callender at 427-0201 or 228-4392, or email curator@barbmuse.org.bb, for more information.
