Minister of Health, Donville Inniss??

An effort is under way to assist the mentally ill who are homeless in Bridgetown.

Come next month, the Psychiatric Hospital, through its community mental health services, will seek to reach these individuals via a mental health clinic to be established at the Salvation Army Headquarters in Reed Street, Bridgetown.

The key objectives are to improve the health status of the mentally ill who are homeless; to provide expanded mental health services in the City of Bridgetown for such persons; to reduce the number of re-admissions to the hospital and to see a decrease in the negative impact on tourism and businesses in the City.

The official launch of this satellite clinic will take place on Tuesday, June 2, at 10:00 a.m., at the above address.

Minister of Health, Donville Inniss will deliver the feature address while Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army, Major Dewhurst Jonas will give remarks.

A collaborative effort, it will see the hospital at Black Rock and the Salvation Army working closely with the Sanitation Service Authority, the Welfare Department, the National Assistance Board, the Leos??? Club of Bridgetown and the Royal Barbados Police Force.
