New Commemorative Issue To Highlight Landship

The Barbados Landship


The Landship in Barbados will be the focus when the Barbados Postal Service releases a new Commemorative Issue on Wednesday, August 17.

The issue features a set of four stamps, a Souvenir Sheet, a First Day Cover and a Souvenir Sheet First Day Cover.

The denominations for the four stamps are – A Landship Tuk Band 1970s, 10 cents; The Maypole, 65 cents; Landship Performance, Crop Over Heritage Gala 2009, $1.80; and Commander Leon Marshall Lord High Admiral of the Fleet 1906 to 1973, $2.20. The set of four stamps can be purchased for $4.75.

Meanwhile, the First Day Cover can be purchased at $5.50; the Souvenir Sheet for $5.00; and the Souvenir Sheet First Day Cover for $5.75.

Official First Day Covers may be bought or ordered from the Philatelic Bureau, General Post Office, Cheapside, Bridgetown, Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., or by visiting the Barbados Postal Service website at

The issue will be on sale at all post offices until Thursday, November 17, and for one year at the Philatelic Bureau.
