The Ministry of Economic Affairs is inviting applications for the Organization of American States (OAS) scholarships for undergraduate and post graduate studies, which are tenable at universities in the United States and Canada, for the academic year 2011/2012.

Eligible candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of an OAS English-speaking Caribbean member state, and must possess the relevant educational and professional experience to be considered for placement into a programme of study. They must also demonstrate the language competencies to undertake studies in the host country. For those prospective recipients who were still awaiting acceptance, they must show proof in the language of instruction (i.e a Certificate of Language Proficiency).

Additionally, the applicants may be required to write admission tests, such as GMAT and TOEFL, as stipulated by the academic institution which they wish to attend and provide the supporting evidence of satisfactory scores.??

The scholarship award may be withdrawn from a candidate who, after a reasonable period,?? failed to gain a place in a reputable university that offered a programme or level of study sought by the applicant.

At the end of their studies, the recipient must agree to return home for a period of no less than 24 months after completing the programme.

Completed applications must be submitted to Bertram Johnson, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Trade, Industry and Commerce, Warrens, Office Complex, no later than Thursday, April 1.??
