Government’s Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat (CICS) started its talent search for persons to perform at this year’s Spirit of the Nation Show, last Saturday evening.

The St. James Secondary school was the location of the first parish talent show which focused on performances from the Northern Zone: St Lucy, St. James, St. Peter and St. Andrew Parish Independence Committees.

A packed school hall was treated to works of poetry, song, dance, dramatic presentations and ‘drumology’ as the performers were judged to ascertain who would be representing their parish on November 18.

CICS National Coordinator, Curtis Gibbons said: “Talent from the Central Zone will be showcased in the second show next  Saturday, September 23, at Grantley Adams Memorial School, while the Southern Zone will be judged the following  Saturday, September 30, at Combermere.”

All shows begin at 5:30 p.m. and admission is free. Additional information may be obtained from the CICS at telephone numbers 436-9660 and 427-6675.
