Although Agrofest 2013 is some three months away, the groundwork is gathering pace behind the scenes to ensure that next year’s event will be an even greater success.

Officials of the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS), and their fellow organisers and sponsors have been ???putting their heads together’ to make plans for the agricultural festival which will celebrate its ninth year in 2013.

Coordinator, Thedore Fraser and BAS staff have been working diligently to ensure Agrofest 2013 builds on the success of previous years, and while organisers were not ready to divulge any innovations, they promised Barbadians that the popular agricultural showcase would be well worth the wait.

Last year’s Agrofest saw several news additions including the expansion to Weymouth ???B’ and a new event entitled ???Dinner under the Stars’, where Barbadians were treated to the best in local cuisine by renowned local chef, Peter Edey.

Several of the mainstays of the agricultural festival will be back next year, including livestock exhibits, arts and craft, games and entertainment and cooking demonstrations, among others. However, organisers are always looking to see how best to improve on the exhibition and continue to give patrons a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Agrofest also remains a popular event for small businesspersons and vendors. Registration for 2013 commenced in July and spaces for food stalls and the toy/children’s area have been sold out.

Agrofest 2013 will run from February 22 to 24 in Queen’s Park under the theme Renewable Energy: Leading the charge into the future.
