The Rural Development Commission (RDC) will stage a workshop under the Rural Rising banner, to equip 40 of its vegetable farming clients with new market information and techniques.
Entitled: Reducing Profit Losses: Postharvest Handling, the workshop will be held on Tuesday, September 29, in the RDC Training Room on Bridge Street, St. Michael, from 10:00 a.m. until noon.
Topics to be discussed include post-harvest handling and the traditional and the use of modern marketing systems to ensure that safe food is delivered to consumers.
It will also show practical ways of meeting high quality industry standards in the areas of harvesting techniques, packing, grading, packaging and shelf life.??Agronomist in the Ministry of Agriculture, Tony Rawlins, will conduct the workshop, while RDC Director, Randolph Outram, will welcome the participants.
