The Rural Development Commission (RDC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through its Regional Entrepreneurship and Agricultural Program (REAP), in partnership with Youth Equipped to Achieve (YEA), will tomorrow, Tuesday, April 24, sign an agreement related to the RDC’s Grow What You Eat programme.

The signing ceremony takes place at the RDC’s offices, 2nd Floor, NSR Grand Building, Bridge Street, St. Michael, at 8:30 a.m.

According to Public Relations Officer with the RDC, Wendy Burke, it aims to get more schools involved in growing food and seeing agriculture as a viable profession.

National Coordinator of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme – UNDP, David Bynoe, and President and Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Marsha Ann Clarke, will sign the agreement, along with the RDC’s Director, Randolph Outram.

Following the signing, there will be a tour of the six pilot schools chosen for the project. Minister of Housing, Lands and Rural Development, Denis Kellman, will lead the touring party, which will visit the six schools in the following order: Ellerton Primary and St. George Secondary, St. George; Deighton Griffith Secondary and St. Bartholomew’s Primary, Christ Church; and Gordon Greenidge Primary, St. Peter and Frederick Smith Secondary, St. James.
